Rehearse the movement
Use a small number of progressively loaded sets to find position and check how the body feels. Keep repetitions controlled and well away from fatigue.
High-volume sessions already contain ample practice. Once the movement is ready, begin the planned work.
Adjust to the exercise
Heavy compounds and cold joints may need more preparation than cable or machine isolation work. Later exercises for an already warm muscle may need almost none.
Warm-up volume is context, not a badge.
