Attention follows mechanics

Stable joints, a repeatable path, and an exercise suited to your structure make local sensation easier to find. Attention cannot rescue a movement that never fits.

Use the warm-up to locate the target, then preserve that position as the working sets accumulate.

Internal focus is a tool

For bodybuilding work, thinking about shortening and lengthening the target muscle can improve execution. For technically demanding free-weight movements, external cues may still keep the whole lift safer and cleaner.

Choose the cue that produces the intended repetition rather than treating one style as doctrine.
